Meet Your Counselor
Dr. Michelle Jordan Faucett
My name is Dr. Michelle Jordan Faucett, and I am the school counselor for VCUSD's Independent Study Academy.
I have been an educator for more than 40 years, as a teacher, former counselor, instructional reform coordinator, and principal. I have been with the Vallejo City Unified School district for more than 30 years.
As I circle back and continue to serve our students and families of Vallejo as a Senior Member of the Educator platform, I have chosen to support the Independent Study Academy program as their Counselor.
Responsibilities
My responsibilities include however definitely are not limited to:
- Advising and counseling students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems.
- Provides individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding students’ 4-year high school academic paths, A-G High School college requirements, Vocational Career opportunities, Scholarship Opportunities, and Career programs, and
- Making sure that I am accessible; making an effort to know every student in the process.
My Background
Throughout my career, I have been recognized as a person who has demonstrated a commitment to helping and supporting students, parents, and our community. Throughout other teacher recognitions. During my first year in Vallejo, at Solano Jr. High, the Superintendent recognized my initiative of creating the first Business Office, within my Keyboard class.
Most recently, as former Principal of Franklin Middle School, my staff and I were able to attain $25,000 for student backpacks and supplies for multiple years, received Garden grants, and Band - Orchestra grants and donations. Our School Garden and Band - first Middle School Orchestra Performances accomplishments were well recognized by our Vallejo and other communities.
In 2010, I was selected as the Principal for Franklin Middle School by our State Appointed Superintendent. In 2014-2015 and In 2018-2019, I was awarded the Vallejo City Unified School District's Principal - Administrator of the Year. In 2019, I was awarded Principal of the Year from the Association of California School Administration (ACSA), Region 4 (Lake County, Marin County, Napa County, Solano County).
I am the proud wife of Dr. Rodney Faucett, for over 41 years. He graduated from Hogan High School and continues to work as a Board-Certified Internal Medicine and Nephrology physician. I am a proud mother of twin girls, who started with the VCUSD schools. Erynne is an ENT Pediatric Surgeon at Phoenix Children's Hospital and Elayne is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner at our local North Bay Hospital.
I have decided to continue my path helping students attain possible post-high school goals, providing students and parents the tools and information needed to achieve success in college - career endeavors.
